FIRST RACE
(Sport of Kings Maiden Hurdle) 

Purse $40,000. Hurdle. For Maidens, Four Years Old and Upward. Four-year-olds, 140 lbs.; older, 154 lbs. Entry fee $200; $200 additional if not scratched on time Wednesday; with $400 additional to start. In addition to NSA fees, 5% of any purse money earned in this race will be deducted as a fee to the Sport of Kings Reserve Fund.
Two Miles and One Half over National Fences.                                                                  

SECOND RACE
THE STEEPLETHON (Steeplechase)

Purse $40,000. Timber. For Five-Year-Olds and Upward. 160 lbs. Non-winners over timber, allowed 5 lbs. Entry fee $200; $200 additional if not scratched on time Wednesday; with $400 additional to start.

THIRD RACE
(Allowance Hurdle)

Purse $45,000. Hurdle. For Four-Year-Olds and Upward which have never won a race, other than maiden, claiming, starter, filly/mare or three-year-old, or which have never won two races. Four-year-olds, 148 lbs.; older, 158 lbs. Non-winners in 2016, allowed 4 lbs.; in 2015-2016, 8 lbs. (Claiming races not considered in estimating allowances). Entry fee $225; $225 additional if not scratched on time Wednesday; with $450 additional to start.

(Hurdle Stakes)

Purse $75,000. Hurdle. For Four-Year-Olds and Upward. Four year-olds, 146 lbs.; older, 156 lbs. Non-winners of $45,000 twice in 2015-2016, allowed 4 lbs.; of $45,000 once in 2015-2016, 8 lbs.; of $30,000 once in 2015-2016, 12 lbs. (Novice, allowance and claiming races not considered in estimating allowances). By nomination for a fee of $100; $250 additional to enter; $400 additional if not scratched on time Wednesday; with $750 additional to start. Supplementary nominations, at a cost of $500, may be made at the time of entry. Two Miles and One Furlong over National Fences.

SIXTH RACE
THE SECRETARIAT STAKES
(Flat Stakes)

Purse $50,000. For Three-Year-Olds and Upward. Three-year-olds, 150 lbs.; older, 155 lbs. Non winners of a stakes race allowed 4 lbs.; of a race other than maiden or claiming, 8 lbs. The result of this race does count toward a horse’s official record.
One Mile and One Half on the Turf.

SEVENTH RACE
(Maiden Flat)

Purse $30,000. For Maidens, Three Years Old and Upward. Three year-olds, 145 lbs.; older, 150 lbs. The result of this race does count toward a horse’s official record.
One Mile on the Turf.
If this race attracts a sufficient number of entries, it will be “split” with a $30,000 purse in each division, with Colts and Geldings in one division and Fillies and Mares in the other.

EIGHTH RACE
(Virginia Bred or Sired Flat)

Purse $35,000. For Three-Year-Olds and Upward, Virginia Bred or Sired. Three-year-olds, 145 lbs.; older, 150 lbs. Maidens allowed 5 lbs. Winners under rules on the flat in 2015-2016, 5 lbs. extra. Stakes winners on the flat in 2015-2016, 10 lbs. extra. The result of this race does count toward a horse’s official record.
One Mile and One Quarter on the Turf.

NOTICES

  • Virginia breds are preferred in all races.
  • Virginia breds in all races except the Virginia Bred or Sired Flat are eligible for a 100% bonus (with a $10,000 cap).
  • In all flat races, fillies and mares will be allowed 10 lbs. when running against colts or geldings.
