Horseplayers Get Unplanned Mid-Week Stakes Bonanza On Wednesday

On any other year, the end of meet cards at Saratoga and Del Mar on Labor Day weekend could understandably be a downer for horseplayers — great summer stakes race action coming to an end. This year, there isn’t even time to catch your breath.

The Kentucky Downs opening day card that was scheduled last Saturday (Sept. 2), was rained out and postponed until Wednesday September 6th. Note the word postponed, not cancelled. That means all four opening day stakes will be held Wednesday including the:

*$400,000 Tourist Mile Stakes

*$350,000 Exacta Systems Juvenile Fillies

*350,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile

*$150,000 One Dreamer Stakes

Open face sandwiches are featured at Ponies & Pints, along with over 50 beers on tap. Plus, Wednesday is half price burger night!

Indiana Grand, a popular track, had four stakes scheduled Wednesday as well, including the:

*$200,000 Indiana Grand Stakes

*$200,000 Centaur Stakes

*$100,000 Florence Henderson Stakes

*$100,000 A.J. Foyt Stakes

Bet the action at a Richmond Off Track Betting Center — at Ponies & Pints downtown, or at Breakers Sports Grille in the west end. Virginia residents can bet on line at TVG.com, XPressBet.com,  TwinSpires.com and NYRABets.com.
