Countdown To The Belmont Is On – Here’s Your “Go To” Belmont Guide

We’re two legs into the Triple Crown series — Nyquist of course won the Kentucky Derby and Exaggerator just captured the Preakness this past weekend at Pimlico. The Belmont Stakes is up next on Saturday June 11th and even though Nyquist won’t be competing, Exaggerator is expected to face a strong field at the 1 1/2 miles distance.

Belmont also will have a stellar under card featuring five Grade I Stakes! They include the $1,250,000 Metropolitan Handicap, $1,000,000 Manhattan Stakes, $1,000,000 Ogden Phipps Stakes, $700,000 Just A Game Stakes and the $700,000 Acorn Stakes. A pair of Grade 2’s are also part of the mix — the $400,000 Brooklyn Invitational and $500,000 Woody Stephens Stakes. First post on Belmont Day is 11:35 AM, and the big race is at 6:35 PM.

Keep up with Belmont developments in the next several weeks via Nick Hahn’s “Off To The Races” radio show, heard every Saturday morning from 9-11 AM in the Central Virginia market on ESPN 950-AM and ESPN 100.5-FM. The show is streamed live and archived as well at www.espn950am.com. “Derby” Bill Watson, long time handicapper, joins Nick every week providing insight and his selections for the weekend’s biggest races.

XPressBet, an on line betting partner of the Virginia Equine Alliance (VEA) — along with TVG and Twin Spires — is extending an offer they made available to Virginia residents on the Derby and Preakness. If you open a new wagering account at www.XPressBet.com, you’ll get a $150 welcome bonus once you wager your first $100. Sign up with the promo code VAGC16.
