Virginia-Bred Stellar Wind Still In Training; Eyes Possible Pegasus World Cup Start

After finishing off-the-board in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff Nov. 3, champion Stellar Wind was consigned to the Keeneland November Sale, where she was purchased for $6 million by M.V. Magnier for the Coolmore group. Most racing fans figured that the daughter of Curlin was officially retired, since plans were for her to be bred in the spring.

However, talk of Stellar Wind’s retirement maybe a bit premature.

According to a report in the BloodHorse, the 5-year-old mare is currently with trainer Chad Brown at Palm Meadows Training Center, and she has a new goal for the upcoming new year – the G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational.

The BloodHorse reports that on Sunday, Stellar Wind breezed a half-mile in :50.

“She is in training with Chad Brown and is under consideration for the Pegasus. The plan is still for her to be bred in the spring,” Coolmore representative Scott Calder told the BloodHorse.
