2017 Virginia-Bred Race Schedule

The VHBPA and the Maryland Jockey Club are planning three days of Virginia-Bred/Sired racing at Laurel Park in 2017. The intended series has races for colts and fillies going long as well as colts and fillies that sprint. Commonwealth Day, September 30th, the highlight of the series features both the Commonwealth Derby and the Commonwealth Oaks, grade III stakes for three year old colts and fillies (approval of the Gr. III Commonwealth Derby and Commonwealth Oaks was postponed at the June 6th VRC meeting per request of the VAHBPA. The Commission’s July 6th agenda will likely include discussion of the two open stakes)

Additional non-stake Virginia-Bred and Sired races at Charles Town and Laurel are also new additions to the 2017 schedule. All races are for 3 and up unless otherwise noted. Any questions related to the race schedule can be answered by the racing offices at Laurel and Charles Town. Please continue to check the website for updated information.
