Saturday August 19th is another great day for horseplayers especially at Saratoga and Del Mar. Saratoga will host the $600,000 Alabama Stakes (Gr. I) and the $300,000 Lake Placid Stakes (Gr. 2) while Del Mar has their biggest card of the year, highlighted by the $1 Million Pacific Classic (Gr. I). Arrogate, Bob Baffert’s #1 ranked horse, will compete in the Classic. Also on tap is the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks (Gr. I) and the $250,000 Del Mar Handicap (Gr. 2). An All-Stakes Pick-4 was announced this week that combines four of these stakes! Saratoga’s first post is at 1 PM and Del Mar’s is at 5 PM (EDT). Note the Pacific Classic is Race 8 and is scheduled for 8:30 PM.
For harness players, Tioga Downs has a monster card this Sunday afternoon (August 20) highlighted by a pair of $250,000 Empire Breeders Classic Pacing Finals — one for 3 year old colts/geldings and another for fillies. They have a stellar under card which includes a $175,000 3 year & up open pace.
