Recap Of Saturday’s FREE $500 Handicapping Contest At Ponies & Pints OTB

David Newby beat Calvin Shine in a closely contested handicapping contest Saturday (Feb. 17th) at the Ponies & Pints OTB in downtown Richmond.

Those two contestants were the only ones who chose #6 Old Time Revival in the first contest race — the $100,000 Miracle Wood Stakes at Laurel. #1 Still Having Fun won the race but his combined win-place price was just $6.80. Old Time Revival was second and paid $21.20 to place, sending Newby and Shine ahead of the rest of the contest field to stay.

Contestant Shine maintained the lead until the 8th and final contest race. In that event — the 8th at Fair Grounds — Newby chose the winner, #8 Synchrony, who paid a combined $15.80 to win/place.   Shine’s selection finished out of the top three.
