Derby Prep Race Season Kicks Into Gear With Fountain Of Youth Stakes On Sat. March 3

Prep race season for the May 5th Kentucky Derby really heats up this Saturday March 3rd with the $400,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes for 3 year olds at Gulfstream. A quick update of the festivities follows courtesy of America’s Best Racing, a site all horseplayers should follow especially heading into the Triple Crown season.

Virginia racing fans can bet the action from Gulfstream at one of four — that’s right, four — Off Track Betting Centers in the state. The Richmond OTBs are at Breakers Sports Grille and Ponies & Pints, while the Buckets Bar & Grill OTB is in Chesapeake. The newest site opens Saturday March 3rd in Collinsville, just outside the City of Martinsville. The Windmill Off Track Betting Sports Grill is located inside the Dutch Inn at 2360 Virginia Road (Rt. 220) and is fresh off an extensive renovation.

The Windmill OTB is easy to spot on heavily traveled Rt. 220 in Collinsville. A total of 45 TVs will show a combination of horses races and sports.

Virginia residents can also bet via one of our on line betting partners — TVG.com, Xpressbet.com, TwinSpitres.com and NYRABets.com.

After a quiet weekend, the prep season for the 2018 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve picks back up in sunny south Florida, with the $400,000, Grade 2 Xpressbet.com Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The Fountain of Youth awards Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers on a 50-20-10-5 scale and is expected to feature the 3-year-old debut of Good Magic, winner of the 2017 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the last year’s champion 2-year-old male.

Television coverage of the Fountain of Youth will be headlined by the new “Fox Sports Saturday At the Races” series airing on FS2. Saturday’s broadcast from Gulfstream airs from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern. The Fountain of Youth anchors a jam-packed day of stakes races at Gulfstream, with eight other stakes on the schedule. Those undercard races will be televised by TVG.

For online coverage, XBTV will be live on-site at Gulfstream for all of the action during the Fountain of Youth card. First post at Gulfstream on Saturday is at noon Eastern.
