The last of the Kentucky Derby prep races have been held and now it’s just a matter of waiting until Saturday May 5th to see which of the 20 horses that enter the starting gate at Churchill Downs will win the “Run for the Roses”. All four Virginia Bets Off Track Betting Centers have big Derby Day celebrations that day so make sure you plan to partake in racing’s biggest annual event.
There are other events happening at the OTBs in the meanwhile and great races to bet including the big $1.2 million Charles Town Classic this Saturday April 21st. Note that Charles Town will be racing in the afternoon on Saturday! The OTB at Ponies & Pints in downtown Richmond will host a free handicapping contest that day with $500 in cash prizes up for grabs, and several of the contest races will be from Charles Town. Just stop in before 3 PM to fill out your free entry.
Our FREE program promotion in Richmond will continue in April and May. We’ll provide free pre-printed programs for four different tracks every Wednesday at the Breakers Sports Grille OTB and every Thursday at the Ponies & Pints OTB. Here is this week’s free program lineup:

*At Ponies & Pints on Thursday April 19: Keeneland, Gulfstream, Aqueduct, Harrah’s Philadelphia
Also, Breakers hosts a “Poker & Ponies” night every Tuesday where attendees play a fee Texas Holdem Tourney right in the OTB area. Top prize is a $50 betting voucher; second prize is a $25 gift card to Breakers. The tourney begins at 7 PM and there are 10 horse tracks running on Tuesday night now, so plenty of equine action is available.
