First Draw For Fall Harness Season At Shenandoah Downs Set For Wednesday Sept. 12

WOODSTOCK, VA  — 9/10/18) —The first draw for the 2018 pari-mutuel harness racing season at Shenandoah Downs in Woodstock, Virginia is scheduled for this Wednesday September 12th. Entries will be accepted from 7:30 AM-9:00 AM. Opening weekend kicks off Saturday September 15th at 2 PM and continues Sunday with a card at the same time. The five week season runs through October 14th.

Shenandoah Downs is located in the heart of the valley and complements a day of wine tasting or hiking.

Director of Racing Dee Lineweaver is encouraging horsemen to enter races via the on line entry system but the race office will accept them by phone on draw days from 7:30 – 9:00 AM at 540-459-5170. Scratch time is the following day at 9:30 AM. Judges can be reached at 540-459-5460.

Qualifying races will be held Sundays at 12 Noon before the pari-mutuel events begin. Condition sheets for opening weekend and the qualifiers are at ustrotting.com, under the Horsemen section, and are listed by the track name Woodstock instead of Shenandoah Downs.

In order to enter races, horses must have a negative Coggins test dated within 12 months on file with the race office, a herpes vaccination dated within 7 to 120 days, and a valid health certificate dated within 30 days.

The following drivers will be at Shenandoah Downs and are available to drive: Tyler Shehan, Chuck Perry, Corey Braden, Chris Shaw, Billy Carter, Joey Mapes, Jared Moyer and Shawn Simons. Drivers Jason Green, Frank Milby and Roger Plante will be available Saturdays only.
