Colonial Downs Online Handicapping Challenge Contest

Date: July 26, 2021

Colonial Downs will be hosting its first ever online handicapping contest on Monday July 26 with several amazing prizes up for grabs that will surely appeal to horseplayers.

Top three prizes include:

*2 seats — including an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas — in the $3 Million National Handicapping Challenge (Jan 20-22 at Bally’s)

*1 seat in the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) that includes a $7,500 live bankroll and $1 Million in cash prizes.

*The Top 5 finishers share in cash prizes too.

Colonial Downs will have three open turf stakes on the July 26 card for contest players to wager.

Entry fee into the Colonial contest is $500, $250 of which will be an entry fee (and go towards  the prizes) and $250 will be a live contest bankroll. Participants can play the contest via TVG or Xpressbet. A live contest account will be set up for the player on contest day.

In order to participate, players must have an active NHC (National Handicapping Challenge) tour membership. This allows participation in these type of qualifying contests year-round. Tour membership is only $50 and can be purchased at ntra.com/nhc/membership/

The Colonial Down contest is unique in that it is on a Monday with first post at 1:45 PM. Also, there are three open turf stakes races carded that day —$150,000 Buckland (3&up, 1 1/8 miles), $100,000 Andy Guest Stakes (F/M 3&up, 5 1/2 F) and the $100,000 Da Hoss (3&up, 5 1/2F).

Even though the Colonial Downs Handicapping Challenge is played online, participants can be at the New Kent track and simply place contest wagers via their own personal device.

Contest wagers include win, place, show, exacta and trifecta bets. Simply make a minimum of $50 in wagers per race, on a minimum of five races on the Colonial Downs card that day.
