The International Virginia Gold Cup is back on Saturday October 28, an annual steeplechase and tailgating event in Virginia Horse Country right outside Washington D.C. The popular activity is a staple for people who want to leave the city for the day and experience Virignia’s rich equestrian history.
Gates open at 10 AM and the tailgating competition begins at 11 AM with an afternoon of jump racing to follow. The racing scene is a picnic-style tailgate event where fans bring their own food and drinks (alcohol is permitted). Children under 12 are free if accompanied by a parent.
The races themselves will include a combination of timber, hurdle, and flat races, including the featured Gold Cup event. Tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased on the Virginia Gold Cup website at vagoldcup.com.
