On Saturday March 16th, The $1 Million Rebel Stakes will take place at Oaklawn Park along with a solid under card highlighted by the $350,000 Azeri Stakes (Gr. 2) and the $300,000 Essex Handicap. The Rebel is a major Derby prep race — for both the April 13th Arkansas Derby and the May 4th Kentucky Derby. Santa Anita is expected to be back in action and they’ll host the Grade I Beholder Stakes and Grade 3 Simeon Stakes. Laurel has a 5-pack of stakes planned and Gulfstream presents their Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes. Need more reasons to visit a Virginia Bets OTB this weekend?
The Buckets Bar & Grill Off Track Betting Center in Chesapeake will host a free handicapping contest Saturday with $1,000 in cash prizes up for grabs! In order to participate and get your share of the free cash, simply stop by between 11 AM – 3 PM that day and fill out an entry. You’ll be asked to pick a horse to win in 8 different contest races (which will be announced on Wednesday March 13th) and will get a mythical $2 win/place bet on each selection. The contestants that accumulate the five highest bankrolls will win $500, $250, $125, $75 and $50 respectively.
