On Monday, Aug. 23, Colonial Downs will host four $100,000 dirt stakes in the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MATCH) Series: The Victory Gallop, Love Sign, Chesapeake and Seeking The Pearl.
The 2021 MATCH Series is a cooperative venture between Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, the Maryland Jockey Club, the Virginia HBPA and Colonial Downs.
Since about 80% of Colonial Downs races over the years have been contested over the Secretariat Turf Course, this event offers fans a unique chance to see four premier races on the dirt track — which is closest to fans standing and cheering trackside.
General admission and parking is free, so this is a must-see event if you enjoy watching horses compete up close and personal.
