Mark your calendars for Saturday May 15th when Medina Spirit tries to follow up his Kentucky Derby victory May 1 with a win in the 146th Preakness Stakes at Baltimore’s historic Pimlico Racecourse.
Bob Baffert, Medina Spirit’s trainer, won his seventh Derby at Churchill Downs and he already has seven Preakness titles under his belt. Post time for the big race, to be run at 1 3/16ths miles, is at 6:48 PM. First race at Pimlico on that stakes-filled day is 10:30 AM.
NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will have coverage from 2-5 PM, then NBC takes over from 5:00 – 7:15 PM.
Wagering is available at VA-Horseplay Off Track Betting Centers in Henrico (Breakers) and Chesapeake (Buckets), at Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent, at Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums in Richmond, Vinton, Hampton and Dumfries, and online via TVG.com, Xpressbet.com, Twinspires.com and NYRABets.com.
The Breakers OTB site features a walk-up betting tent on their outdoor patio which fans can access from the sidewalk in front of the building. This was a very popular option with horseplayers on Derby Day and is expected to be on Preakness Day.
