Shenandoah Downs Harness Racing First Ever Spring Season Opener

Date: April 1, 2023

Make plans to come out and enjoy an expanded 2023 pari-mutuel harness racing season in Woodstock this coming spring AND fall! Pacers and trotters will compete in races every Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM from April 1 – May 14 and again from September 16 – October 29.

That’s 14 weeks of racing in the heart of the picturesque Shenandoah Valley! An afternoon of racing is a perfect after-hike activity in nearby Seven Bends State Park or a great way complement wine tasting at Muse Vineyards or craft beer tastings at the Woodstock Brewhouse. The park, winery and brewery are all less than two miles from the track.

The 106th Shenandoah County Fair will present four days of harness racing as well — from August 30 – September 2 at 12 Noon each day.

The “Downs” meets feature free parking, free admission, and Happy Hour Sundays with $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs. In spring, make plans to bring the family out for holiday racing on Easter Sunday (April 9) and Mother’s Day (May 14). In fall, the Shenandoah Chamber’s popular Autumnfest celebration is scheduled for Saturday October 7 and the 26th running of the $600,000 Virginia Breeder’s Championship Races will take place on closing weekend.

Meet details are available at shenandoahdowns.com and the Shenandoah Downs facebook page.
