VHHA Matinee Harness Racing Meet

Date: September 2, 2020 - September 4, 2020

The Virginia Harness Horse Association and Virginia Equine Alliance will present a three day race meet this summer in place of the short season that traditionally had taken place during the Shenandoah County Fair.

Harness racing has taken place in Woodstock for 100-plus years.

The Fair, which has conducted harness racing for over 100 years in Woodstock, cancelled the 2020 edition as a result of Covid-related restrictions.

The non-wagering Matinee Meet will not be open to the public due to Covid-related precautions. Racing will take place at 2 PM Wednesday thru Friday, September 2 – 4.

Chris Shaw drove Foiled Again to victory at Shenandoah Downs Sept. 29th, 2018. The superstar horse made a promotional appearance on 2019’s opening card.

The Shenandoah Downs meet itself will begin two weeks later and run from September 18 – October 17 with racing on Fridays and Saturdays at 2 PM. Again, due to Covid precautions, racing will be spectator-free and wagering will not be available. Details are available at www.shenandoahdowns.com. Horsemen information is available at www.vhha.net.
