Virginia-bred and sired horses will compete in three separate special event days at Laurel Park this summer and fall. The first day is Saturday June 23rd when a four-pack of $75,000 stakes will be presented.
The Edward Evans, Nellie Mae Cox, White Oak Farm and Tyson Gilpin Stakes will all be carded and will all be contested on turf. The first pair will be held at the one mile distance and the latter pair will be held at the 5 1/2 furlong distance.
The Virginia-bred cards held in Maryland the last several years have traditionally attracted deep fields and generated solid wagering handle.
The 2017 Virginia-bred card was referred to as “Class On The Grass”. The other two event programs still to come are on August 4th and September 22nd.
