The Virginia Gold Cup Races will be held at at Great Meadow in The Plains per normal this spring, but on a different date than in past years — on Saturday May 29, 2021. Due to the Covid pandemic, the date was moved back from its traditional “First Saturday in May”. Tailgating and ticketing policies will temporarily change from past years as well.
On a normal year, a crowd of 60,000 would gather at Great Meadow to watch and wager the action. This year, a percentage of that will be allowed based on the Governor’s most recent capacity limits for outdoor events. Plans are to accommodate 17,000-plus fans though.
Tailgating spaces are first come, first serve as a result and are available at Members Hill ($675), and North or South Rails ($500). Each package includes 10 wristbands, 1 tailgate car pass and 2 general admission car passes.
