Dubai World Cup, Louisiana Derby & $4.5 Million Rainbow 6 Mandatory Payout Highlight Saturday Race Action

What an afternoon in store for horseplayers today! The world’s richest horse race — the $10,000,000 Dubai World Cup — will go to post at 1:00 PM. Four U.S. horses are entered including California Chrome!
Later in the day, Fair Grounds hosts their biggest race day of the year featuring 4 graded stakes including the $1,000,000 Louisiana Derby (Gr. II), a key Kentucky Derby prep. Mo Tom, who was third in the Risen Star and victorious in the Lecomte, is favored at 5/2, and a field of 11 will go to post at 6:12 PM. A trio of stakes will immediately precede the Derby and are packaged together in a 50 cent, All-Stakes Pick-4 wager. First leg is the $400,000 New Orleans Handicap (Race 7) at 4:23 PM, followed by the $300,000 Muniz Memorial Handicap and the Fair Grounds Oaks.
Gulfstream’s $1,000,000 Derby is still a week away but bettors will be chasing today’s mandatory payout of their Rainbow 6 pool. There is an amazing carryover pool of over $4.5 million and the bet is only 20 cents! The Rainbow 6 covers races 7-12 today and Gulfstream will add an additional 20 minutes between the 6th and 7th races to handle the extra wagering action they expect. Don’t miss out!
