Congratulations to Art Smith, who won a close battle in Saturday’s Holiday Weekend Handicapping Contest at the Breakers Sports Grille OTB in Richmond. Contestants selected a horse in eight 8 different stakes races that were held at Gulfstream and Fair Grounds. They received a mythical $2 win/place wager on all eight selections, and the players with the top five mythical bankrolls shared in a $500 prize pool.
Of 85 contestants, only six had the winner of the fifth contest race — the $150,000 Silverbulletday Stakes at Fair Grounds. Stronger Than Ever, sent off at odds of 33-1, beat Wonder Gadot by a neck and upset the field. When combining the $2 win and place payout, those six contestants saw their bankrolls inflate by $80.60, which sent the other 79 pretty much to the sidelines.
Here are the top five finishers and their respective bankrolls:
1st – Art Smith – $94.00
2nd – Joe Rivera – $93.20
3rd – Kathy Hall – $91.40
4th – Joe Franco – $88.80
5th – Ray Harris – $88.70
Prize money was distributed as follows: $250 – $125 – $60 – $40 – $25

The next two contests will be held respectively at Buckets Bar & Grill in Chesapeake on Saturday February 10th and at Ponies & Pints in Richmond on Saturday February 17th.
