All four Virginia Bets OTBs — in Richmond (Ponies & Pints), Henrico (Breakers Sports Grille), Chesapeake (Buckets Bar & Grill) and The Windmill (Collinsville) will be having Kentucky Derby Parties on Saturday May 5th. Details on each one will be posted here in the next couple days — here is the one in Collinsville (just outside of Martinsville) .
Kentucky Derby Day at The Windmill Off Track Betting Sports Grill – Saturday May 5th
*Take advantage of the first chance to bet the Derby in Henry County in 5 years! The brand new OTB Sports Grill is located inside the Dutch Inn Hotel and can be accessed from the main lobby. Due to expected crowds on Derby Day, we’ll be opening an auxiliary simulcast area in the main first floor ballroom. There will be room for everyone — and we’ve got a big Derby party later in the day as well with food, drinks, live music and a fancy hat contest. Here are some general details about the day itself:
*Advance Derby betting available all day/evening on Friday May 4th (Kentucky Oaks Day)
*Reserved OTB seats/tables are available in The Windmill OTB Sports Grill itself – $10 per seat, or $40 per table of 4 (advance purchase only); Reserve tables from the bartender on your next visit.
*The first floor Ballroom will be open for simulcasting all day beginning at 10 AM. Afternoon track signals in the Ballroom will be Churchill, Gulfstream, Belmont, Tampa Bay and Laurel. Evening signals will be Penn National, Evangeline, Indiana Grand and Charles Town.
*Pre-printed programs will be on sale both in The Windmill and Ballroom.
Derby Day Hours: Doors to the Windmill OTB and 1st floor Ballroom open at 10 AM; first race at Churchill Downs is 10:30 AM; Derby post time is 6:45 PM; simulcasting continues until 11 PM.
Looking for more of a celebration? A special Derby “Bash In The Ballroom” will be held from 4 – 9 PM. Ticket includes an appetizer buffet, 2 drink tickets, live music with The New Habit, Fancy Hat Contest, eight betting stations and two bars (serving mint juleps too) — $25 per person or $40 per couple!
Spend the night on premise! A Derby Day Hotel package is available at the Dutch Inn — walk right from your room to the OTB, and back! Package includes a hotel room night AND “Bash In The Ballroom” ticket. Price is $80 per couple (room, 2 party tix) or $65 for an individual (room, 1 party ticket)
Fancy Hat Contest! Wear your most elegant, creative or outrageous hat. We’ll award a $100 betting voucher to the best in EACH of the three categories. Contest takes place at 7:00 PM immediately following the Derby.
