Portion of proceeds will benefit Charlottesville non-profit Camp Holiday Trails

(Charlottesville, VA – February 5, 2024) – Albemarle County’s signature Steeplechase racing event will celebrate its 45th running with the return of the Foxfield Races on Saturday, April 27. Tickets are on sale now at foxfieldraces.com. Foxfield will once again partner with Camp Holiday Trails, a Charlottesville non-profit that provides camp experiences to children ages 7-17 with medical needs from Virginia and surrounding states. Camp Holiday Trails, which collectively received $111,629 from the 2022 and 2023 races, will once again be a recipient of support from race day proceeds.

Foxfield, which most recently hosted the Fall Races event on October 1, hosts nationally recognized steeplechase races in the heart of Virginia, giving residents and visitors alike the opportunity to witness spectacular horse racing and enjoy the beauty of the countryside. In 1977, Mariann de Tejeda generously purchased the property for the Foxfield Racing Association and designed and built the race course. Today, the bi-annual races host upwards of 17,000 attendees and feature a strong field of horses and riders, free fun for friends and family of all ages, vendor village, local food trucks and more. The fall races will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

“Continued safety improvements and adjustments have been made to support equine wellbeing and rider safety,” said Foxfield Racing Executive Director Kelsey Cox. “With the installation of the new sustainable irrigation system, we’ve seen an uptick in racing quality. Owners and trainers see the tremendous benefits of competing at Foxfield. We pride ourselves in not only providing a safe and inviting race environment for our competitors but also the community.’

Foxfield Races will be held April 30 in the second of three NSA sanctioned jump meets in Virginia in 2022.
