OLD DOMINION HOUNDS –POINT TO POINT – Saturday, September 12, 2020 – Ben Venue Farm, Ben Venue, Virginia – First Race – 12:00 pm
Check out the Ben Venue racecourse, prepped (and prepping) and perfect for the Sept. 12 Old Dominion Hounds Point-to-Point.
Huntsman Steve Farrin enlisted the help of one of Virginia’s top course managers, Bryon Pope of Glenwood Park to advise on when/how high to mow for premium cushion. Timber fences are getting a facelift, and hurdle markers are being set out for national fence delivery this week.
The paddock (*used only for ‘riders up’ this year) and the hillside tailgate spaces (*on sale now – limited supply) will be mowed tight next week, but the course will be left at 8″+.
Rappahannock County got 3″ of rain Friday, and showers are forecast for this week, so horsemen can expect pristine footing, perfect (forgiving) conditions for their first autumn outing.
**Race conditions are up at centralentryoffice.com and nationalsteeplechase.com
**Linda Reynolds has tailgate space sales: 540 270 0651
**Full corona procedures for horsemen will be posted soon on NSA and Central Entry and distributed widely (they’ll be similar to Middleburg Spring and Virginia Gold Cup in June – masks, paddock procedures, bring your own food and drink, etc.)
