Harness The Excitement at Shenandoah Downs This Fall!
Pacers & trotters will compete five straight weekends over racing’s newest pari-mutuel racetrack in Woodstock, Virginia, located in the heart of the scenic Shenandoah Valley. There is a deep tradition of harness racing here — the Shenandoah County Fair has played host to non-betting harness races for 100 years!
The fall, 2017 season is just the second one where fans can actually wager on their favorites. Competing over a half mile oval that underwent an $800,000 renovation in 2016, fans at Shenandoah Downs get a unique and intimate experience, cheering horses on from a historic trackside grandstand as they power to the finish line.
Ten races are conducted every Saturday & Sunday from September 16th through October 15th beginning at 1:00 PM. The program normally wraps up around 4:00 PM. Concession food, snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine are available for purchase. The races are family friendly and here’s the best part — ADMISSION IS FREE!
Festivals often take place during the weekend races. Visit www.shenandoahdowns.com for the complete lineup.
The track is based at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds, and is conveniently located halfway between Harrisonburg & Winchester off I-81 a Exit 283.
