Watch, Wager Races On Line; Tampa Bay Downs, Fonner Park Extend Meets Thru May

Attention Horseplayers — As the calendar rolls into May, there are still a handful of thoroughbred tracks that are running! And even though the Kentucky Derby has been rescheduled fror September 5, Churchill Downs will open its meet May 16 to provide even more content for fans to wager in these uncertain times. If given permission, Santa Anita hopes to open mid-month too and has scheduled a host of stakes around Memorial Day weekend.

Churchill Downs will open its spring/summer meet May 16.

Oaklawn Park closes out their always successful winter/spring meet with a showcase event on Saturday May 2 when they host the Arkansas Derby, which was split into two $500,000 divisions.

Virginia residents can wager these tracks seven days a week via four partner on line betting companies: TVG.com, Xpressbet.com, Twinspires.com and NYRABets.com.

Here’s the current schedule as of May 1:

Gulfstream Park: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday at 1:00 PM (Saturday at 12:45)

Fonner Park: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at 5:00 PM (no racing on Monday May 18)

Tampa Bay Downs: Friday, Saturday & Sunday thru May 3 at 12:30 PM. Then Wednesday, Friday & Saturday for the rest of May.

Will Rogers Downs: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at 2:15 PM. thru May 20

Churchill Downs: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday at 1:00 PM beginning May 16. Also Memorial Day, Monday May 25

Tampa Bay Downs, which normally closes at the end of April, extended their meet thru the end of May.
