The $300,000 Virginia Derby is the biggest annual horse race in the Commonwealth. Top 3-year-old turf horses and the sport’s best jockeys and trainers compete over the renowned Secretariat Turf Course. The 19th running will take place Tuesday September 6, 2022 in New Kent with a stellar under card. Tickets are available at colonialdowns.com.
The Derby highlights Colonial’s final week of the summer racing season. The day prior, September 5, is Labor Day’s Family race program and the day after, September 7, is highlighted by a card of Virginia-Restricted stakes.
